Weekly Fav: Rick’s Recycled Books

My weekly favorite is a small hidden gem here in Rochester, New York…Rick’s Recycled Books.  I have been going to this bookstore for years and always walk out with a stack even though I have several unread ones at home!  Bookstores are my weakness…especially used bookstores.

I have to admit my boyfriend planned our weekend and surprised me with a visit to Rick’s…yes, he is pretty amazing!  This isn’t a place to sit on your laptop and sip your coffee, but it is a lovely hole in the wall, bursting with an assortment of books begging to be chosen.  Most are $1-$4 and even though it looks like chaos he has a method to the madness.  I think of it as the House of Guitars for books.

On this trip my boyfriend was able to find a couple books he wanted to read, and then realized one is autographed!

If you are looking for something to do make a stop at this lovely treasure on Monroe Ave.

I’m a mother of three beautiful children who have given me the strength in life to be determined in reaching my goals. I am a teacher certified in English and Special Education and truly enjoy going to work every day. I recently completed my requirements to become certified in school district leadership to make an impact on a much larger scale. I have had my fair share of blood, sweat, and tears, but the entire journey has made me grateful and appreciative of all that I have. One strategy I found helpful was to find something every day to be thankful for---focus on the positives in life! My goal with this blog is to do just that---focus on those “little” moments with the hope to inspire others.

  1. Hi Crystal! Thanks for stopping by Chlohemian 🙂 I am enjoying your posts as well. I’m from Long Island and will be making a trip home this summer. Hoping to take my Czech boyfriend upstate. If we make it to Rochester, I will surely stop by here as I’m also a book fiend. My last book was a reread of Beloved after nearly 10 years. My current book is Gaiman’s “Shadows and Mirrors.”

  2. Rick’s Recycled books sound like heaven! I love used book stores! The last book I read was Come Rain or Come Shine which is book #11 in the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. Right now I’m reading The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough and Married and Still Loving It: The Joys and Challenges of the Second Half by Gary Chapman and Harold Myra.
